It would be easy to write this off as a Percy Jackson wanna-be (and there are a lot of similarities to The Lightning Thief) but I actually like this more than Riordan's book.I do wish that Laurie (the main female character) had a stronger part- she's no damsel in distress, but she does tend to fade into the background during the fight scenes.
